About Taylor/Cook/Wood/Field
Please sign in to see more. Hi,One thing I have learned in the past years of trying to find FAMILY is that it is frustrating but fun!
Primarily, the families were farmers and fisherman, with a few parsons thrown in.Richard MIller Wood was a farmer in Southold, Suffolk Co.,LI,NY. His son, Henry K Wood lived in Cutchoque, and was a Bayman. His son, Charles F Wood graduated from Columbia U as a Pharmacist, and moved to NJ.
Preserved Field lived in Southold Town, and was a tailor. He was a private in Sheldon's Light Dragoons (Second Continental Light Dragoons) One of his sons, Leonard, moved to NYC,Joel and Gustavus stayed around Southold. Joel was the father of Lydia,( who is listed as a tailoress) married Henry. Jesse V Cook and his family were pound fisherman/farmers in Monmouth County, NJ.Abiel Cook was a farmer in Monmouth Co also. He was in the Freehold/Shrewsbury area while Jesse`s family settled around Monmouth Beach. Edward Taylor sired a family of farmers-James C Taylor was a sheepman (Southdown breed),but his sons did not follow in his footsteps. Barnard C Taylor I was a professor of Theology .His grandson, my father was an artist and his daughter (me) am back on a farm!
The whole thing is alot easier to understand if you look on the Tree.
